Beaufort, NC (Carteret County)
What does she do? Sarah is a Coastal
Outreach Specialist with the North Carolina Coastal Federation.
Favorite part
of earning her certification? While earning her EE Certification, Sarah
enjoyed meeting and talking with other NC educators that have similar goals
regarding the environment. "Many educators working on their EE certification are
really trying to get students and adults to love the environment as much as they
do!"
Certification experience that stands out? Sarah's favorite outdoor
experience was the Leopold Education Project in Greensboro. She enjoys the
creative side of education and really liked learning to appreciate the
environment in non-formal ways.
Her Action Partnership? She organized and
led two youth groups to create oyster shell bags that were placed along an
island's eroding shoreline in the White Oak River in Carteret County. These
oyster shells provide habitat for native oysters in the river and also protect
the island from erosion from storms and boat wake.
CONGRATULATIONS, SARAH!
