Granite Quarry, NC (Rowan County)What does she do? Kim is a 6th Grade teacher at Erwin Middle School.
Favorite part of earning her certification? Kim especially enjoyed the outdoor learning experiences and awesome staff of the six Pisgah Forest Institute workshops that she attended at Brevard College. She appreciated the outstanding leadership roles of Kevin Fischer and Dr. Jennifer Frick-Ruppert, and the amazing van driver, Ms. Doris.
Certification experience that stands out? One of her many favorite outdoor experiences was the PFI Forest Ecology Workshop. The forest hikes were educational, breathtaking, adventurous, and fun – a common description of all her PFI workshops!
Her Action Partnership? Kim's Action Partnership was to restore a nature trail at a local elementary school. This project consisted of clearing an existing trail, improving bridges and creating an outdoor classroom with the installation of an observation deck and benches. A special thanks to the United Way, local Girl Scouts and family and friends for the success and completion of this outdoor classroom setting.
