Kim Aichele

Huntersville, NC (Mecklenburg County)
What does she do? Kim is a 4th/5th grade science teacher at Children's Community School in Davidson, NC.
Favorite part of earning her certification? Kim enjoyed attending workshops with other educators, specifically the neotropical migratory bird class at Reedy Creek nature center. She is an avid birder and loves the challenge of identifying birds.

Certification experience that stands out? Kim's favorite outdoor experience was visiting Cowans Ford National Wildlife Refuge as part of a Museum of Natural Sciences grant program. "We identified birds, frogs, and found salamanders and eggs as well as many macro invertebrates," says Kim. "We also identified many programs our students could be involved in at Latta."
Her Action Partnership? Kim's project involved labeling storm drains and educating her neighborhood as to the importance of keeping everything out of the storm drains except rainwater.
CONGRATULATIONS, KIM!
